I'm going to give the band a wee break
for a second
and sing you another one on my own.
This is an old melody
and I decided to write about something that's
happening in modern Scotland
so I wrote a song about gay marriage,
or rather it's about the opposition
to gay marriage
from gay cardinals and priests.
It's called Ode to O 'Brien et al.
The Cardinal he warned us
of where we will all be heading
So ciety will crumble
if two laddies have a wedding
But soon the truth was told
and now that pious prick has flown
That fucking fake had many
a gay union of his own
Some people have a fanny
and some people have a cock
But I'll never understand
what makes some people want to balk
At the need for human beings
to express a wee bit love
Oh, you'd think that grumpy bastard
would be happy up above
But some still claim God's
heaven name,
aye, all that queer stuff
In heaven will nae take them,
naw to love him's no enough
Are we no wise children,
aw make up yer fucking mind
And meanwhile let the rest of us
get on with humankind
And ministers can warn us
of where we will all be heading
Society will crumble
when two lassies have a wedding
But sex and love is older
than your Bible and your Lord
And his message of compassion
clearly hasnae struck a
chord
Thank you very much.
