Tonart: D major
Verse 1
D
It was later than he had planned
when Simon finally came
over a little knoll
and found himself on the edge
of a vast crowd of people.
He saw here and there
one he recognized.
But there were more people here
than lived in Bethsaida
and Capernaum put together.
They had obviously followed
Jesus a long way.
Simon stood captivated
by the booming voice
that filled the little valley
of white -clad men and women,
all listening attentively.
G
This man was indeed very wise.
D
And yet, there was more
than wisdom.
There was authority.
After a while, Jesus was silent,
and he turned to talk quietly
with several men close at hand.
They seemed to be his followers.
Simon thought
it was a very good time
to eat the lunch his mother had packed.
He'd worked up quite an appetite.
Boy, am I hungry.
Your mom's bread sure smells
good.
Hurry up and pray, Simon,
so we can and eat.
Praise the Lord, O my soul.
I will sing praises to God
while I have my being.
How blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob,
who made heaven and earth,
who executes justice for the oppressed,
who gives food to the hungry,
who sets the prisoner free.
Amen. Pardon me, lad.
I see that you're an artist.
Very nice.
I also see that you have a
very nice lunch there.
Oh, yes, sir.
My mother is a great cook.
Uh, say, would you like to taste one
of these barley loaves?
I have plenty enough to share.
Well, I'm truly grateful
for your generosity.
Uh, what is your name?
Simon, sir.
And my name is Andrew.
I'll tell you what, Simon.
I am a disciple of Jesus the Nazarene,
the man who's been teaching here.
Would you be willing to share your
lunch with him?
You mean Jesus wants my lunch?
I'm not sure, but would you mind bringing
it to him and see?
Oh no, I'm not a bit hungry anyway.
I'd like Jesus to have my lunch.
Let's go.
Andrew and Simon
made their way down the hill
to where Jesus waited.
When they arrived, Andrew introduced Simon to the great teacher,
and he gently took the boys' lunch.
Bm
Then, Andrew and the other
followers of Jesus
D
began to divide the crowd into groups
and ask them to be seated.
When this was finally accomplished,
G
Jesus raised Simon's lunch
D
toward the heavens and prayed.
