My Intro For My 21st Birthday
You've heard the story about
Minnie the Moocher.
She was a red -hot oochie -coocher.
She was the roughest, toughest frail,
but Minnie had a heart as
big as a whale.
She messed around
with a bloke named Smokey.
She loved him, though he was kokey.
He took her down to Chinatown
And showed her how to kick the
gong around
It was down in Chinatown
All the folkies laid around
Some were high and some
were mighty low
Counting millions on the floor
When a knock came on the door,
and there stood ol' Smokey Joe
He was sweating cold an d pale,
he was looking for his frail
He was broke and all
his junk ran out
Nobody made a sound,
then somebody turned around
And then you heard ol' Smokey shout
Tell me where is Minnie?
I want my Minnie
Has she been here
kickin' the gong around?
If you don't know Minnie,
she's tall and she's skinny.
Has she been here
kickin' the gong around?
Just tell us Smokey Joe
was here and had to go
And as he departed,
the curtains par ted
And there stood Minnie
kickin' the gong around
Hi -dee hi -dee hi -dee hi
Oh -oh -oh -oh -oh -oh -oh
You didn't see me climb
through that window
Nobody had to open that door
I just climbed right through the wall
And I want you one and all
To settle back and let me have the floor
Take a look,
I'm not such a stranger
Here's the face you kookies
all ought to know
You can tell me I'm not ballin'
But the joint will still be haulin'
Cause I'm the ghost of Smokey Joe
Do you remember when
I kicked the bucket
in my mansion up on Stuyvesant Grove?
When they came and took me off
in my billion dollar coffin,
yeah, I'm the ghost of Smokey Joe.
Tell me, do you remember Minnie?
We remember Minnie.
She's that frail I never found.
Never recognized a Minnie.
You mean to say that Minnie
quit kickin' the gong around?
I've got a date on my feet
down in Hades
Call my parents so I can go to her
And should the mooch
you're walkin' to
Just tell her you've been talkin' to
To the ghost of Smokey Joe
You
