they journeyed to Bethlehem.
It was a long, hard trip,
and when they got there,
they found Bethlehem full of
people like themselves
who had come to pay their taxes.
The inn was full,
and there was no room for them.
The best they could do
was to go to a stable
where the cattle were kept,
and in that stable in Bethlehem,
Jesus, the Savior of the world,

Mary wrapped her child
in swaddling clothes
and laid him in a manger
where the cattle were fed.
Then Mary and Joseph

adored the Divine Infant,
and it was the first Christmas.
