Thank you very much,
and good evening here to our first show this
evening here at the Copa.
You know, when we were
selecting material for the act,
I of course consulted some
of the older veterans
in show business for advice.
You know, the older people
like Fabian and Sal Mineo
and all the older guys.
And they said, well,
why don't you do at least
one blue song in the act?
So with this thought in mind,
I would like to ask all of you
to come along with me an d try
and picture a typical teenage soda bar
just before school lets out along
about 3 o 'clock.
It's a quarter to three,
no one in the place
except you and me.
So set them up, man, in chemistry today,
I flunked my exam.
Though I try my best, each chemistry test,
all my test tubes explode,
so make it one double -malted
and one pi -alamo.
I'm as blue as can be.
My girl digs Elvis Presley
in preference to me
Our love can't go far
I'm playing second fiddle to his guitar
Now I don't mean to
knock that good Presley rock
But he's rocking my bowl
So make it one triple milkshake
and one more cherry
blow.
Now you, you'd never know it,
but I'm a teenage po et
and I've got a lot of things to say.
And man, when I get gloomy,
keep passing pizza to me
Until my blues,
they are all eaten away
Well, that's how it goes
And I know you're getting tired
of hearing my woes
Thanks for the food,
I hope you did not mind
my miserable mood.
That road looks so rough,
and I feel so stuffed,
that I know I'm gonna explode,
so make it
