Tonart: D minor•
Verse 1
Dm
Last night I had the strangest
C
F
dream that I have ever dreamed
Dm
I was a boy again, just barely in my teens
F
Wandering through the woods and
Bb
F
hills that tower above our town
Bb
F
And in the rocks and brush the
C
Dm
entrance to a cave I found
And like most any young boy
C
F
would I crawl into the cave
And through the damp, dark darkness,
Dm
then I slowly made my way
Bb
F
going this old way and that
Bb
F
Until sud denly I knew,
C
Dm
I didn't know where I was at
I tried to find the way out,
C
F
but it seemed to be in vain
The more I tried,
Dm
the more confused and frightened I became
F
At last, in sheer exhaustion,
Bb
F
I collapsed and fell asleep
Bb
F
Until the distant roar and sound
C
Dm
of thunder awakened me
The thunder boomed, the earth edge shook,
C
F
I trembled in my fear
Surely this must be the worst storm
F
And all the time the fury of the
Bb
F
storm just seemed to grow
Bb
F
Until sud denly it ended with
C
Dm
a great earthquaking blow
I then began to crawl around
C
F
and what a stroke of luck
I saw above a tiny light and
F
And soon I crawled from out of what
Bb
F
I thought would be my grave
Bb
F
And what I saw, it made me wish
C
Dm
I was back down in the cave
For there was not a blade of grass,
C
F
a tree, or bush around
Not even one small bug crawling
Dm
on the park's burnt ground
F
And looking down the hill I saw
Bb
F
the shambles of a town
Bb
F
Where people used to live before
Outro 1
the bomb came down.
